Reducing suffering before and after surgery

We study palliative care for surgical patients

Palliative care is medical care that focuses on reducing the suffering of patients with serious diseases. Dedicated palliative care specialists have been shown to improve quality of life and improve survival of patients with serious medical problems.

Our group explores the palliative care needs of patients who have had or will have surgery. We study interventions to meet these patients’ needs and improve their lives.
