Post-operative Fatigue

Fatigue, or a feeling of low energy that interferes with normal activities, is one of the most common and debilitating symptoms that patients experience after major surgery. Fatigue also results from many of the serious diseases that we treat with surgery, like cancer. Unfortunately, we do not have many good treatments for fatigue because we do not understand what biological mechanisms cause fatigue. Our group studies how post-operative fatigue develops and what biological changes are associated with these changes in fatigue.
